3 Lasco companies seek $415m via IPO Print

3_lasco_companies_seek_415m_via_ipo As a precursor to listing on the Junior Market, three of the companies within the Lasco Group are making Initial Public Offerings, IPOs, seeking to raise an aggregate 415.5 million dollars. The three companies are: Lasco Distributors Limited; Lasco Financial Services Limited and Lasco Manufacturing Limited.

 
JBG's quarterly profits down 49% Print

jbgs_quarterly_profits_down_49 Jamaica Broilers Group’s net profit for the quarter ended July 31, 2010  fell precipitously. The company’s un-audited financials for the quarter showed net profit declining by 49 percent to 219 million dollars when compared to the corresponding period last year. The Group’s turnover of 4.9 billion dollars in the review period reflected a 17 percent decline.

 
Another bank reduces interest rates Print

another_bank_reduces_interest_rates Jamaican-owned First Global Bank on September 1, 2010 reduced its base lending rate by two percentage points to 18.75 percent. The new president of First Global bank Maureen Hayden Cater described the move as a response to a reduction in market rates and the bank’s commitment to provide its customers with affordable solutions to meet their personal and financial goals while stimulating the economy.
